Don’t Be Like Janet
A few weeks ago, I had a nightmare journey getting home from work. It took me three and a half hours to get home. It should take an hour and a quarter.
For whatever reason, trains were being cancelled left, right and centre. The previous day my wife and I had stumped up nearly £10k between us for our annual season tickets. (Yes, you read that correctly. Ten thousand pounds).
I should have been pissed off. I had every right to be. We’d just paid an extortionate amount of money for a service which the very next day was failing in dramatic fashion. But getting pissed off wouldn’t have served me well.
Instead I saw it as an opportunity. I whipped out my laptop and wrote training programs for 3 of my Online Personal Training clients. I also responded to a few emails and finished off a couple of Facebook posts. I could have sat there and wasted the time by idly flicking through social media but I didn’t. I chose to use the time for something productive.
Time is one of those things that you can’t get back. Once it’s gone it’s gone. I know people who have been meaning to lose weight for 5, 10, 15 years. They’ve done nothing about it, the time has just gone. They say they will start Monday. Well there’s been 520 Monday’s in the last 10 years Janet, yet here we are having the same conversation.
If you want to make a change, then you need to do it now. You need to seize the opportunity and use whatever time you have. Anyone that wants to lose weight has to take action. At some point, you have to have that spark in your head that goes “enough is enough”.
The best day to start exercising is yesterday. It’s unlikely you have a time machine, which makes today the second-best option!
Don’t be like Janet and be in the same position in 10 years’ time. Use the time you have right now and start making changes.
You don’t have to be in the gym for hours on end. Even if you can only manage 10 minutes per day, over the course of a year that’s almost 60 hours of exercise!
Last Spring, I took 14 women through the steps they needed to lose a combined 105lbs of body fat. They had all decided that enough was enough and they wanted to make a change. Over 6 weeks we changed their habits so that not only did they all lose weight, they learnt how to keep it off. In a few week’s time, enrolment opens for my next Slim 6 group.
There are only going to be 15 places available, so you’ll need to be quick if you want to enrol. Click here to register your interest and be the first to find out when you can grab a spot.
