Personal Training Part 1: Goal Setting
Goal setting is one of the 1st steps we'll take in your personal training experience. Those that have clear, defined goals will always get better results than those that do not. If you do not have a clear idea of where you want to get to, how do you know which path to take?
Moreover, goals need to be emotive and unique to the individual. They need to have meaning. For instance, some of the most determined personal training clients, are brides who want to be in shape for their wedding day. They have a clear set of defined goals, which are emotive to them.
Our personal trainers will objectively analyse where you are to start with. Taking photos, body fat measurements and circumference measurements. As well as this, we'll perform a full “life audit”. By this I mean an analysis of your nutritional intake, training history, work life, social life and home life.
From here, our trainers will be able to give you a realistic set of measurable goals, goals which you both agree on. It is extremely important that you understand what you are trying to achieve and what exactly you need to do in order to achieve it. For this reason - you should write down the goals and the things you need to do to achieve them. Putting these pieces of paper in places you will see them regularly is often a good idea. On the fridge, on your laptop or on your dressing table for instance.
During your training, we'll also sit down together and re-assess your goals on a regular basis. Are you meeting your short term goals? If yes, then great. If not, then why? What needs to change in order for you to get to where you want to be? A change in diet? A change in training? Increased effort on your behalf?
This 1-2-1 guidance and regular assessment is just one of the reasons why personal training really makes a difference for our clients.
